August 2011
With the airline industry having moved its Ticketing and Clearing House
processes in recent years from paper based systems over to electronic data,
the next logical step was to eliminate paper from the interline billing and
settlement areas. A global project run and co-ordinated by IATA is now
nearing completion and will mean physical documents for billing will no
longer need to be sent around the world. For airlines this has presented a
challenge as legacy systems have had to be changed in order to provide the
new format data feeds and images that are required.
With many years experience in
airline revenue accounting and interline billing systems, Pregem has been
working with a number of carriers to help define requirements and
deliver the necessary changes. Now the first wave of passenger and miscellaneous billings
under the new system are due to go live in the coming weeks with the paper
being phased out soon after. Cargo and UATP are
scheduled to follow in April 2012.
